Photos: What Makes a Great One?
The just concluded Photo Arts Expo at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida has prompted some conversation about “what makes a good photo?” and “what image should I enter in the photo contest?” My answer to both questions is pretty much the same. There are certain characteristics that great images tend to have in common. But one must be aware that judging, by its very nature, is very subjective and a photo that is great in the eyes of one judge is only mediocre to another.
