Sunday Post ~ Road

Wormsloe Plantation

When I saw that Jake’s Sunday Post theme was “Road,” I immediately thought of this single image of the entrance road to the Wormsloe Estate. Noble Jones founded Wormsloe in 1736 on Skidaway Island near present day Savannah, GA, USA. Initially, Jones planted mulberry trees in an unsuccessful attempt to cultivate silkworms.

The mile long lane leading to the plantation is lined with over 400 live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss.  Surely, one of the most photogenic tree lined lanes anywhere.

Below is a black and white version of the same image. I think it is a bit more dramatic and was the one I was going to use, but Travelerlynne thinks the color image is more interesting, a better choice for the blog. What do you think?
