Capture the Colour

TravelSupermarket.com is sponsoring the Capture the Colour competition which asks for five photos that represent five different colors:  Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red.

Blue- Amazingly still on the rails of Kolkata, India, daily, this streetcar has had a long, hard life. Many coats of paint have come and mostly gone. A small amount of blue paint is still holding on, though now peeling. There are more images of the Streetcars of Kolkata, India, here.

Green- There is no place more lushly green than the rice fields of Bali. I had spent most of the day wondering and photographing the fields. It was late in the day and I was getting tired. The approaching thunderstorm convinced me to call it quits. Much more about the Rice Fields of Bali can be found here.

Yellow- This family was heading out from their floating village in their small boat for a night of fishing. Shooting into the bright, hazy afternoon light, most of the detail of the boat’s surroundings were lost which gives the feeling the boat is floating on its small piece of water and not the entirety of Halong Bay and the South China Sea.

White- In a white sari and kneeling on white marble, this lady is ardently praying to the Hindu Goddess Durga during the holiest and most festive time for the Bengalis of Kolkata, India. Much more on the Durga Puja can be found here.

Red- Its all about elbows and angles, and being entreated to “Refresh Yourself,” as these guys were busy finishing up their afternoon chores in front of their home down an alleyway in Kolkata, India.
