Travel Theme: Curves – Liquid Bamboo

Liquid Bamboo

For this week’s Travel Theme: Curves I resorted to some Photoshop trickery again to completely alter the appearance of a clump of bamboo I photographed in Bali into a curvy abstract shape of greens.

After opening the original image shown below in Photoshop, I created a duplicate layer and applied the liquefy filter and pushed and pulled the rigid parallel lines of the bamboo into a fluid, organic, abstract image. I then returned the image to Lightroom where I  rotated and cropped and put the finishing touches on my “Liquid Bamboo” abstract.

  3. Good job, Ron. I don’t have Photoshop, but it looks like a lot of fun. 🙂

    1. Thanks. This little project was fun and I was pleased with the outcome.

  4. When I see that photo of the banboo grove it brings back some hard memories of fighting bamboo as it takes over everything… But I must confess that Photoshop version you’ve created from the photo is lovely. I’ve never had much time to play around with my Photoshop, I use it mainly to create photo-haiga (the haiku imposed upon the image in the photo.)

    1. Yes, bamboo can be tenacious, but I love it – in someone else’s yard. 🙂 I do not use Photoshop often, but occasionally it is fun to explore.

  5. This liquified bamboo texture looks very attractive.
Even it is a artificial process, your result looks somewhat natural.
…like a projected image on the wavy water surface…looking up from inside the water.
    Great one, Ron.

    1. Thank you dunden. I am glad to liked it. Not my usual straight photography.

    1. Thanks Jake, and thanks for all you do for the WP community.
