The texture of an object is often what makes it photographically interesting. That play of light and shadow along with color is what makes for a successful photograph. The surface of everything, whether in nature or man made, has texture. It is the visible or tactile quality of the surface. Black and white images usually allow for the texture of the subject to be more perceivable because the distraction of color is gone.
Here are a few images of man made things that I like for their interesting texture. Which is your favorite?

17 Sep 2012I replied it once but I reiterate. Textures are good to look but I feel so iffy when I think about my palms touching them. Rusty or smooth metals, that stair, that solid wood….Yikes! Awesome pictures as always fotografer.

17 Sep 2012As always, thank you for the inspiration. Now I’m inspired to pay more attention to texture because of your insights. My favorite here is the tile roof, reminds me of fish scales. Interesting now to realize that some photographs are capable of conjuring up mental images of things completely unrelated. 🙂

My favorite is the tile roof as well. You are close. They actually represent the scales on a dragon to fool and ward off evil spirits.
