In the Middle of Nowhere

In the Middle of Nowhere

In the middle of nowhere following the railroad tracks. Heading west across Louisiana surrounded by untold acres of sugar cane. Miles and miles of lonesome road interspersed with beauty and desolation, truck stops and convenience stores, and poverty.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.

  1. Ron, that is one very very powerful picture! It made me wish I was ready to write another novel and discover that photo as a cover, I was near dumbstruck when I looked at it and tried to walk a rail as I did as a kid. Keep on keeping on. It’s an eleven on a scale of one to ten.

    1. Wow, thank you Dudley. You are very kind. I am happy you liked the image, now get started on that novel. 🙂

  2. What a beautiful photo, Ron. It reminds me of the movie Nebraska with its big sky and crossed roads and train tracks.

    1. Ah yes, wasn’t Nebraska a treat. Thank you Cathy.

    1. Thank you Louise. An interesting observation.

  3. Very nice b+w! Love the lights in your pic 🙂

  4. Beautiful and suggestive photo…Love the lines and the vanishing point, that is not in the middle…I think it Works very well!!! My congratulations!
(And I like the quote very much ! 🙂 )

    1. I am pleased you like the image. Thank you.

  5. Ron, this is truly a masterpiece! The perspective, the composition, and black and white to boot – wow! I am reminded of the movie High Noon, when Gary Cooper looked down the railroad tracks, into the distance, waiting for the bad guys who had vowed to kill him.

    1. Thanks Sal. You are too kind. Now I’ll have to watch High Noon again.

  6. Magnificent capture, Ron. Although it’s a peaceful enough scene, I find that there’s something very disquieting about it.

  7. Well done as always Ron – I’m in AnotherDay’s camp – something disquieting. But that’s OK, a great photograph should evoke emotion and yours always do.

    1. Thanks Tina. I like “disquieting.”

  8. Beautiful! And the RR crossing sign “X” is duplicated in the composition – cool!

    1. Thanks for noticing that and thanks too for visiting.
