Reflections Across the Koi Pond

Reflections Across the Koi Pond

The shimmering water, the colorful koi, and the reflections of the gayly dressed ladies across the way make for a vibrant abstract.

The Pura Tirta Empul, where the image was made, is a Hindu temple in the middle of Indonesian island of Bali. The temple was built at the end of the tenth century at the site of a spring famous for its holy water. People travel from all over Bali seeking cures from illnesses and purification by bathing in the temple’s holy waters.

  1. Great Shot are they bathing with the Koi’s?

    1. Thank you. The reflections are of people walking along the opposite side of the pond. Their bright clothing and the colorful koi made for an interesting abstract image.

  2. Really beautiful! So, so pretty Ron! 🙂

    1. Thank you Gigi and thanks for stopping by.

  3. Great shot Ron, shimmering lighting to go along with the action and movement of the koi ~ and the women across the way who make it so. Would someday like to check out Indonesia and the Pura Tirta Empul (Bali one of the jewels of SE Asia).

    1. Bali, especially the interior, is truly worth a visit. Especially the rice fields and,of course,, the temples. Such an interesting form of Hinduism compared to India. The beaches can be rather frenetic though.

      1. I really do need to head there…it is a simple hop from HK, so not that difficult. I’ll happen this year 🙂

  4. Just love the colors and the movement in this one Ron – nicely done!

  5. Magnificent! Love the reflection and vibrant colors.

    1. Thank you Rene and thanks for visiting.
