I have long admired the work of the painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Their masterful use of light and shadow, and their strong compositions captives me. Especially so with their luscious Still Life paintings.
My camera is my means for artistic expression and lately, I have been using it to create still life images. Much in the same way a painter would in his studio, I gather props and create a pleasing setting. Then the lighting. Using a variety of lights and reflective cards I strive to have a balance of light and shadow emphasizing some area and making others recede into the background or shadows.
All in all, this is quite a challenge. I enjoy having complete control in the creation of the image, from selecting the props to post-processing.
