“Still Life with Lemons and Silver Jug”
“Still Life with Lemons and Silver Jug” pays homage to Willem Kalf’s Still Life with Silver Jug on display at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. As you likely know, I have long admired the work of the painters of the Dutch Golden Age. The landscapes and especially the still lifes. Willem Kalf is a favorite. He is noted for his rich, sumptuous style featuring groupings of silver and gold vessels along with a Chinese porcelain bowl with fruit tumbling out. I hope that my interpretation of perhaps his best know work somehow measures up. Regardless, it is one of my favorites so far.
