For me, photography is a passion, my conduit for self-expression. My camera is my canvas, my notebook.

Having long suffered from wanderlust and curiosity about other cultures, other countries, photography is my excuse to wander. I travel to find and make photographs and, conversely, making photographs is my rationalization to travel. My passions are satisfied. Not surprisingly then, most of my images are of people of diverse cultures being themselves, in their own environment. In addition, making images of the wonderful landscapes that surround us, especially in the American west as well as my home state of Florida are of profound interest.

Learning to see, not just look, is critical to making any type of visual art, and especially photography. When making a photograph I endeavor to visualize the final image as a print. My years as a professional sculptor, in a previous life, was vital to learning to see, to visualize. I would create the entire sculpture in my mind’s eye before putting chisel to wood. As I explore Still Life photography I rely on my gift of visualization as much as ever.

I am pleased that my work has been recognized in several national and international competitions. Recent exhibitions include:

  • Photoville FENCE 2020, Sarasota, FL
  • NYC for Photographic Art, “Luminosity…the Impact of Light 2020, NY, NY
  • The Praxis Gallery, Still Life Exhibit, Minneapolis, MN
  • A Smith Gallery, “Light” Exhibit, Johnson City, TX
  • PhotoPlace Gallery, “Finding the Light” Exhibit, Middlebury, Vermont
  • PH21 Photography Gallery, “Photographic Visions – Winter 2021,” Budapest, Hungary

Additionally, my photography has been featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles. Additionally, my work has been published in seven books, including “The Streets of Paris”, featuring 148 of my Paris street scenes.

Great images here! Your picture of the Malecon caught my eye on wordpress today! I visited Cuba in 2012 during the Biennal and was blown away by the culture, the people, the places, and the magic that is engrained in the country. My post highlighting our arrival was featured on Freshly Pressed and you might enjoy it as well. I always loved getting to relive the experience every time I see images from this wonderful place.
