Key West, Florida, is an eccentrics paradise. Known for its fierce independence Key West, known as the “Conch Republic”, once symbolically seceded from the US. This island town possesses a spirit of tolerance and freedom in which the most misfits of society can feel at home.
Life is like a carnival here. It’s a magnet for the vastly different social groups that inhabit the tiny island. Tolerance of all the differing beliefs and lifestyles is, sadly, unheard of in most communities.
Perhaps no other town its size has the varying degree of personality types. Respectable businessmen, die-hard hippies, writers, artists, Caribbean transplants, homosexuals, and long-time resident ‘Conchs’ call the island home.
