Bridge Crossings – the Hindu Holy Festival Kumbh Mela

Kumbh Mela Pontoon BridgesSeen here are eight of the ten pontoon bridges pilgrims use to cross the Ganges River in Allahabad in northern India during the Kumbh Mela Festival, which is held once every twelve years at the confluence of the Yamuna, Ganges, and mythical Saraswati rivers, a site known as the Sangan. Tens of millions of worshipers come to bath in the holy waters here to wash away their sins.
