More from Kumbh Mela. Last time I mentioned attendance was expected to exceed 100 million. Over 30 million were present this past Sunday, February 10, the primary bathing day. By comparison, 2.5 million people make the pilgrimage to Mecca. The site itself exceeds 55 square kilometers (21 square miles)

Many of the images below were taken at night, some as early as 3:30am.

Next stop, the ancient city of Varanasi, the River Ganges, and the ghats.
