Everglades Swamp Lily in Perspective

Everglades Swamp Lily

These Swamp Lilies happily growing in the Florida Everglades are about the size of the palm of my hand but appear much larger. My camera’s wide angle lens was just a few inches from the flowers. The lens was set at its smallest opening (f/22) allowing everything from the lily to the distant clouds to be in focus and giving the appearance that the blooms are much larger than they are. An example of photographic perspective, where objects in the foreground appear larger than those in the distance.
