Two boys enjoy a little idle time drifting near their floating village in Vietnam’s serene Halong Bay, at the edge of the South China Sea. Life here is not as idyllic as it seems, however. The hundred or so fisherfolk that make up this floating community are out most nights working their nets. At dawn, they return to their colorful little homes to rest, make repairs, fill lanterns, and prepare for another night among the jagged karsts that pierce Halong Bay.

11 Sep 2016Another amazing photo, Ron. And a great one for the challenge. It takes me back to one of my favorite journeys to Halong Bay in 2011. 🙂

15 Sep 2016An interesting image – to me it looks as though the boat is hovering above the water.

17 Sep 2016It seems that way. The water is very clear and with the angle of the sun it gives the illusion the boat is floating above the water, not on it. Thanks for your comment.
