While traveling to visit family this past winter we found ourselves traversing the midlands of Georgia. Farm country in the Deep South. Crops are in and the fields are fallow for now.

Halloween and Thanksgiving have long passed, and the frost has had its way with the pumpkin patch.

Down a narrow country road, the equipment is stored in the sheds and the silos are full. With peanuts I imagine.

The cotton fields have been sprayed and harvested and the cotton’s been ginned.

Winter wheat is planted here in the South before Christmas so it can be harvested in time to get the peanuts in the ground. And so the cycle goes.
