Angles and Elbows

Angles and Elbows

Angles and Elbows, Calcutta, India

Calcutta, India. Two men finish washing pots and pans in an alleyway behind a neighborhood eatery. As they straighten and give me an understandably quizzical look, I am drawn to the similarities and stark contrast between them and the fair-skinned model in the ad for the popular soft drink behind them. Arms bent at the elbow in toil. An arm bent for that refreshing pause. The contradiction is striking.

We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing.

  1. You have captured the Great Indian Paradox in this image…

  2. White = beautiful in India (and probably also many other Asian countries).

  3. Fantastic shot, Ron. The people in your photos are always so ‘real’. What a contrast, indeed. 🙂
