Male CardinalOn a recent Sunday morning, I was walking through a favorite birding habitats expecting it to be busy with visiting northern songbirds and resident wading birds and ducks. But alas, this lovely male cardinal was my only encounter. Cardinals, with their beautiful red plumage and distinctive black mask, always brings a smile. There is a lot of lore surrounding seeing a male cardinal. Usually a spiritual messenger or bearer of good omens.
So, with a smile on my face and a nice cardinal portrait made I felt ready to start the rest of my day feeling, just maybe, there is truth in some of the cardinal lore.
