“Still Life with Books and Silver Pitcher” is moving in a somewhat different direction than most of my recent work. First of all, there’s no food. More importantly, the image is more subdued, less vivid than most. A bit monochromatic. A peaceful, serenity was my goal. A reader perhaps, enjoying a restful, quiet moment with a tattered old but favorite book. In contrast to the noisy, unsettling, COVID-dominated world many of us are forced into.
