Images of India – Rickshaw Wallah

Rickshaw WallahA hand pulled rickshaw is probably one of the oldest formsĀ of taxi service. Although using humans as beasts of burden is illegal throughout most of the world, including India, rickshaw wallahs (or pullers) still ply the streets of Kolkata, India. The work isĀ horrendous and dangerous, and life expectancy for these men is short, but it is a way to make a living, though a meager one at best.

India fascinates me. It is a photographer’s delight. I hope to use this space to share some of my favorite images of India on a regular basis. Stay tuned.
